Getting attention online is becoming increasingly competitive; at any given time thousands of models from all around the world are performing on many different platforms. Appearing on a network that is well advertised and offers a superior technical environment like XCams-Models with lots of visitors is a very important first step. A crucial part of the user experience relies on the quality of the camera stream you provide. No matter how enjoyable performances you offer, if you are online with a lagging, choppy or insufficiently illuminated camera stream, the viewers won’t be that satisfied.
Providing a continuous video feed, with 640*360 or 864*480 (widescreen) resolution and 30 FPS is essential for being successful as a webcam model. Luckily, it’s not something you can achieve through some mysterious ways. All you need is a capable Internet connection, a relatively strong PC and a good recent webcam.
The HD tag on model profiles works as a sorting mechanism too. Streaming by the desired quality standards will result in a higher score and a better position on the website so it worth investing in your business.
Quick guide to qualify for streaming with the HD tag:
- Internet connection
Having a high upload speed is important for a good image quality. We take this into account to define the ranking of the models on the website. The higher your upload speed is, the higher the better the quality might be. Being online in HD quality requires a minimum upload speed of 1300 kbit/s. Wireless connections are less reliable - for the best possible quality we recommend to have a hardwired internet connection with high uploading bandwidth. Being online on more platforms at the same time requires significantly higher bandwidth. Local service provider can provide information about broadband coverage and their most suitable offers to you.
- PC configuration
No matter how strong is your Internet connection, if your computer can’t handle the graphic contents you won’t be able to stream in the desire quality. Devices of the current generation can deal with our standalone software but always manage your system resources carefully! Don’t overuse your computer by running too many unnecessary applications.
- Webcam device
Built-in cameras may be convenient, but due to the low quality they provide they are not recommended. They are optimized for low-light conditions and come with simplified driver softwares, so they seriously falling behind in terms of resolution and FPS (which shows the continuity of your camera feed) and they lack several special features that standalone webcams may have which can make your life a lot easier. You can achieve full HD quality with a good webcam, and there are several reliable but affordable devices on the market. Our recommended webcams are:
